Mexico earthquake: Strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake hits Mexico City, monitor says

September 23, 2017 A powerful 6.2 magnitude earthquake has hit Mexico City, a Mexican monitoring body has said, and there are reports from witnesses of buildings shaking. It wasn’t immediately clear if the trembler, which was centred in the southern state of Oaxaca, had caused any damages or injury. The United States Geological Survey said that the earthquake was an aftershock from a previous quake, and that already vulnerable buildings could be in danger of collapse from previous damage. “I was frightened because I thought, not again!” Alejandra Castellanos, who was on the second floor in a central neighbourhood of the city, told the Associated Press. The government bowed to some of the union’s demands with appealing proposals which the union seemed satisfied with during a negotiation meeting between it and the ASUU, Friday, in Abuja. One major concession from government was to honour the 2009 agreement government had with ASUU, by releasing the sum of N220 billion not later than October 2017, to fund the revitalization of federal universities across the country. The meeting which started at 2:30pm on Thursday, ended about 2:15...

HOW FAST YOU WALK PREDICTS HEART DISEASE DEATH... #MEDICAL DAILY.

Walking is an easy way to get active and stay active. It's a cardio exercise that can help us live a healthier life by maintaining a healthy weight, strengthening our bones and muscles, and even preventing and managing conditions, including heart disease. Your walking speed can say a lot about your physical fitness, and a recent study found it can also predict the likelihood of dying from heart disease. Middle-age adults who were slow walkers were about twice as likely to die from heart disease compared to fast walkers during the study period. Those with a low body mass index (BMI) faced the highest risk, which suggests people who were malnourished or had high levels of muscle tissue loss with age were more susceptible. In addition, slow walkers also had low fitness levels; this could explain their higher risk of heart disease death. The findings, published in the European Heart Journal,  held true even after researchers accounted for factors...

REPORT OF AN INTERVIEW WITH FUOYE DEAN OF STUDENTS' AFFAIRS ON ISSUES RELATING TO THE INAUGURATION OF SUG AND IT ELECTION IN THE UNIVERSITY.

FUOYE Student Union: A constitutional precedence that cannot be averted ---ADEYEMI   Esan Femi Williams The inauguration of the Federal University , Oye – Ekiti student union has being described as a constitutional precedence, subjecting to the fact that necessity requires that Fuoye students should have a voice through which they can come together and present their demands. This was disclosed by the Dean of Student’s Affairs , the person of Dr. E.O Adeyemi during an interview with the press in his office on Tuesday. “I will not say that the granting of the student union is too early because constitutionally, they’ve been allowed to have a voice through which they can channel their grievances and demands to the school management without engaging themselves in any unruly act that may impede academic activities and progress of the school. “Since we’ve allowed other unions like NASU , NAT , and ASUU , so, the students also need to have a voice. “Well, I...
