In its continuous effort to proffer solutions to the lingering housing deficit in the country as well as satisfy its potential clients, the Urban Shelter Limited has reiterated its commitment to providing housing and real estate services that conform to global best practices. 

Speaking with Africa Housing News reporters at its 30th anniversary and 8th employee recognition and award ceremony in Abuja, the Managing Director of the company, Saadiya Aminu, stated that despite the challenges imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the company has satisfactorily met the demands of its teeming clients as it relates to property development and management in the last one year.

According to her, the company has been able to open up new projects in Kaduna, Lagos, and Abuja.

“In the course of Covid, some major challenges have come up. There has been supply chain disruptions, impacted pricing on assumptions among others. However, despite the fact that Covid slightly lessened our ability to really deliver our projects as expected, we’ve successfully lunched new projects in Kaduna, Lagos, and Abuja. We’ll continue to ensure customers’ satisfaction by effectively planning, developing and managing properties for individuals, private organisations, state and federal government establishments”, she noted.

While expressing optimism for a more fruitful year, she said celebrating and honouring its workers became sacrosanct following their numerous contributions to the realization of the company’s 2021 goals and aspirations.

She appreciated them for their teamwork, dedication, and spirit of sportsmanship, adding that the company will continually motivate its workforce for improved service delivery.

Aminu said: “Particularly, I’m really found of appreciating Urban Shelter team. Individually, they are resilience, determined, passionate, and they go extra miles and they deserve to be appreciated. There would not be an urban shelter without staff members. It’s individuals that come together and form a team to deliver these projects…”

While laying emphasis on the support enjoyed from the FCT, Kaduna, and Lagos State Governments, she expressed the company’s readiness of constant collaboration with the public sector and individuals that are willing to venture into opportunities in the construction and real estate industry. 

Also speaking at the event, the General Manager, Corporate Service Department, Urban Shelter Limited, Mr. Francis Olorunfemi, noted that the company has experienced tremendous developments over the year through its special operational strategies.

He was quoted as saying the post-Covid experience brought to the fore new approaches that have positively impacted the company’s operations.

“Giving all the challenges that we went through especially post-covid, I’m glad we are able to weather the storm. We are doing better than ever before because we have learnt some mistakes in the past and we are correcting them towards aiming higher and getting better”, he said.

Meanwhile, awardees at the event applauded the management of the company for its deliberate efforts towards encouraging its employees, adding that the recognition given to them will spur them into greater exploits for the company, going forward.
