EYP Speaker Commends Gov. Fayemi's Commitment to Youth Development, Seeks More Inclusion, Youth Empowerment

The Ekiti Youth Parliament Speaker, Rt. Hon. Toba Ayo Fatunla, has lauded the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, over his commitment to youth development in the state.

Fatunla expressed his gratitude in his congratulatory message to the Governor, on the occasion of the third anniversary of his second term in office.

He hailed the Governor for his achievement in the area of youth development, adding that his administration has created a conducive atmosphere for youths to grow in the state.

Fatunla, in what he described as a testament to youth development under the watch of Gov. Fayemi, said that Ekiti youths currently take the lead in all youths' engagements in the country.

"His Excellency has created an enabling environment for youths to thrive in Ekiti State, little wonder Ekiti youths take central stage in Nigeria.  For instance, the Speaker of Ekiti State Youth Parliament is the Chairman of the conference of State Youth Parliament Speakers in Nigeria, the President of NANS in Nigeria is from Ekiti, the President of all Female Students in Nigeria is from Ekiti.

His Excellency created a special ministry for the youth and has created many impactful programmes since its inception for the youths", he noted.

According to the speaker, against the backdrop of political ties, "Ekiti State is a project that every leader in the state is expected to add his/her bricks", noting that Fayemi has not only done well in the area of youth development but also impacted every other aspect of the state.

While appreciating the Governor's level of appointments of youths in the state, he craved for more strategic inclusion of youths in governance, stating that youths are the greatest assets of the state.

Fatunla was quoted as saying that: "Recently, His Excellency sent a reply to Ekiti Youth Parliament in a letter specially addressed to me. The letter detailed his response to series of requests we made on how to better engage Ekiti Youths for maximum productivity. When some of these things are implemented, Ekiti will ultimately progress...

While we appreciate the level of appointments amongst the youths, we shall continue to ask for more strategic inclusion in governance, more engagement, empowerment, and employment; for the youths are the greatest investment and Ekiti's Prime Assets."

Governments who routinely trample on other human rights like freedom of expression and peaceful assembly often a...
