1. The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has been suspended by the State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This was confirmed in a statement signed by eight members of the executive committee yesterday. They are: Senator Tony Adeniyi, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, Congressman Bimbo Daramola, Hon Robinson Ajiboye, Hon Oye Ojo, Hon (Dr) Adewale Omirin and Hon Femi Adeleye.

2. Meanwhile, the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has denied the “suspension” of the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.

Reacting, the party in a statement by Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, said the actions are a nullity as the Party’s National Secretariat is yet to receive communication from the state chapter on the purported “suspensions”.

3. Similarly, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has reacted to his suspension by a faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State.

The Governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, described the suspension as a joke taken too far.

4. The Nigerian military has lost one senior military officer, reportedly a Colonel and two soldiers.

Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, in a statement made yesterday, recalled that on Thursday, troops on clearance operation against criminals across the North-West zone got information on bandits’ attack in Unguwar Doka village, Faskari LGA of Katsina State.

5. Members of the Boko Haram terrorists’ group yesterday attacked a convoy of the Borno state government officials along Monguno, Baga road, killing 12 policemen, 13 civilians and 5 soldiers.

The incident happened around 2pm while the convoy was heading to Baga town ahead of the government’s plan to return internally displaced persons, IDPs, from Maiduguri to Baga.

6. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, has advised organised labour against embarking on industrial action.

In a communiqué issued by the NGF Vice-Chairman and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, yesterday, the governors explained that any plan to down tools, will worsen the already deteriorating economic situation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

7. The Federal Government has warned civil servants from Grade Level 12 and above not to join the industrial action declared by labour unions.

A circular issued by Head the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, has advised civil servants to be at work from Monday.

8. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has assured Nigerians of a better country.

Obasanjo said he could see a new vision and observed Nigerians having a new understanding of the nation.

9. Justice Olasumbo Goodluck of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Abuja, yesterday, convicted and sentenced two men, Mahmud A. Mohammed and Ikechukwu Nkwocha-Philip to 10 years in prison each without an option of fine for fraud.

The three convicts were arraigned alongside Globtec Resources Limited (third defendant) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a four-count charge, bordering on conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of $1,000,000.00 (One Million US Dollars).

10. The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, met with President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, he declared that it would be “immoral” for him to return to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
