1. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has insisted that it would proceed with its planned nationwide protest with effect from Sept. 28 over Federal Government refusal to reverse the hikes in electricity tariff and fuel pump price.

According to Wabba, the NEC after its extensive deliberations resolved to reject the hike in electricity tariff by almost 100 percent and also reject the fuel price increase in the name of deregulation.

2. The federal government has insisted there is no going back on the passage of the National Water Resources Bill.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who stated this during a press conference yesterday, said those criticizing the Bill, were either ill-informed or have not read it or do not understand its provisions.

3. The Aslem Ojezua-led faction of the Edo All Progressives Congress, APC, has dispelled rumour that plans are underway to expel Adams Oshiomhole, a former National Chairman of the party from the party.

Ojezua said the rumour making the rounds that the APC faction has written the national body of the party informing it of their plans to expel to end Oshiomhole’s membership of the ruling party.

4. The Federal Government yesterday  moved to boost its resources by directly taking over control of revenue management of its 10 most lucrative Enterprises.

The 10 government-owned enterprises, GOE, named in the first phase of the initiative are Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and Nigeria Customs Service, NSS.

5. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday presented certificates of return to Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy Philip Shaibu.

Obaseki will be sworn in for his second term in office on November 12, 2020.

6. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state yesterday declared that he holds no grudge against suspended APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The Edo governor asked Oshiomhole to join him in building Edo state, adding that the fight is not over.

7. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, yesterday said the United States, US, and European Union, EU, determined the outcome of the just concluded governorship election in Edo State.

Adegboruwa, who is an activist lawyer, explained that whoever these forces favour would always emerge winner of an election in Nigeria.

8. The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Edward Ajogun, said operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, have arrested six suspected armed robbers, who he said have been pretending to be soldiers.

According to Ajogun, the robbery suspects operating in military uniforms, were specialized in robbing passengers on the popular Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

9. Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Ayodele, has declared that the All Progressive Congress, APC, and its candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, will lose the October 10 Ondo State governorship election.

Ayodele, in a statement yesterday, said that Akeredolu will not win except through manipulations and technicality.

10. The remains of the late Nigerian Army Col. Dahiru Bako who was killed in an ambush by Boko Haram fighters in Borno State have been buried.

Col. Bako, whise patrol team was ambushed at about 10 am on Sunday near Damboa, about 85 kilometres from Maiduguri, was laid to rest in Borno State yesterday.
