CHARACTER: THE BEAUTY OF EVERY HUMAN BEING.

 By: Oris Oluwafikolami Olamide

Character is merely synonymous to personal tastes, temperament, nature, and disposition.

This is evident in the way you dress, address people, react to things, and all other things that make up your being.

Your character defines your being. The level of accomplishment and greatness human attain in life is determined and dependent on the quality of character one possesses.

Beauty is characterized by many as a combination of human physical qualities, encompassing shape, complexion and posture which pleases the aesthetic senses, while some see Beauty as innate virtues which complement the outward beauty to achieve human numerous life goals.

Character is also likened to flames. No matter how hard you try covering it, it gets its way through, either consciously or unconsciously.

The type of relationship humans engage in and it's sustainability is made manifest by their character.

More often than not, people get attracted to human outward beauty, but what sustains human relationship at whichever level is the inward beauty, which is human character.

Some people get deceived and carried away by their physical beauty, hence injecting others with their venoms of wickedness and hatred.

There is difference between human being and human person. Human being refers to everybody born of flesh, while human person according to Alex Ray is "a living being that contains a real and existing power to direct its own development toward fulfillment through perfect, unconditional, and infinite Truth, Love, Goodness, Beauty, and Unity, and will do so if all the proper conditions are met."

This topic however takes me down a memory lane of a twins.

There was a rich Man in the village named Oluwalogbon. This Man was so rich that nobody in the village could compete with him. His wife was a cloth seller and they both gave birth to a set of female twins, namely; Taiwo and Kehinde.

Kehinde was so pretty, while Taiwo was acclaimed to be ugly, considering her physical characteristics. Taiwo was however gentle, calm and humble. But, reverse was the case for her twin sister. So full of ego as a result of her Dad's wealth, Kehinde was so rude, hot tempared and furious.

There came a time for them to get married, as each of them fell in Love with their choosen Man. They both had the most colourful wedding in town, which set the pace for another journey of life. And then, the reality began.

Few months after the wedding, Kehinde started showing her true character, which made her husband's family hate her so much. On the other hand, Taiwo was busy enjoying her marriage. She was rated higher as a result of her good conducts and behaviours, which placed her at a great advantage over her twin sister.

Kehinde continued with her unruly attitudes and she couldn't even control it with the presence of her mother in-law. She had a serious misunderstanding with her mother-in-law, which later cost her a lot.

Her husband came back from work, and surprisingly met her mother in the pool of tears. He inquired from his mother what transpired, and she narrated the whole story to him.

Kehinde's husband didn't rely on what his mother told him, but also, went to Kehinde to hear her own side of the story.  Instead, Kehinde picked up another scene of controversy with her husband, which caused her husband to send her out of the house in anger.

Without any form of remorse or shame, kehinde went back to her father's house in search of another husband without making any move for amendments.

Unfortunately for her, she didn't see any Man that could propose her, since they knew what caused her misfortune. She was swayed away by the wind of her outward beauty, forgetting that such is ephemeral.

Even the one that was acclaimed to be ugly kept on enjoying her marriage without any course for alarm. Her inward beauty sustained her.

Character occupies a greater part of human life, especially the female gender.

Ladies who lack good conduct and character tends to face great difficulties in marriage. Forget about outward beauty. What sustains your home goes beyond that.

Away from relationship ties, a leader must also be socially responsible.  A leader must have the ability to endure, possessing high level of humility regardless the office being occupied, with good manners.

Conclusively, good character accords great respect and prestige. It makes people to love and respect you. Love covers everything. When you love and being loved, growth becomes feasible, development is made possible, and the society at large turns out to be the best place to live in.

CITIZENS’ RIGHT AND POLICE INJUSTICE IN NIGERIA

By: Ebo Emmanuel             Police Injustice mostly used to refer to various human rights violations by police which might include beatings, racial abuse, unlawful killings, torture, or indiscriminate use of riot control agents at protests. At its worst, unlawful use of force by police can result in people being deprived of their right to life. If police force is unnecessary or excessive, it may also amount to torture or other ill-treatment. Unlawful force by police can also violate the right to be free from discrimination, the right to liberty and security, and the right to equal protection under the law.           In countries with high rates of killings by police, there is often a combination of factors including inadequate laws, racial or other forms of discrimination, insecurity or conflict, and entrenched impunity. Governments who routinely trample on other human rights like freedom of expression and peaceful assembly often a...
