Kidnappers release monarch’s wife after collecting N2.5m

Noami, wife of Chief Tuesday Jumbo, the Clan Head of Obong, in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has been set free by her captors suspected to be kidnappers.
Our correspondent learnt that Noami,  who was seized by suspected kidnappers numbering five near her country home,  Obio Edem Urua,  Etim Ekpo local government area,  about a week ago,  was freed after a whopping N2. 5m was paid as ransom.
A source said the Monarch successfully negotiated with his wife’s abductors and agreed to part with N2. 5million to effect her release.

The source disclosed that the kidnappers blindfolded and ferried the monarch’s wife from Ukwa Ngwa forest in the neighbouring Abia State and dropped her at Iwukem village, about 10 minutes drive to her palace iin Ibio Edem Urua.

The distraught monarch, it was learnt, was called to pick his freed wife, who was said to have been immediately taken to undisclosed hospital for medical examination.

“Yes, the dumped her at Iwukem village at about 7:00PM, and the husband was immediately alerted to come and pick her”, the source said.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Muazu Zubairu, had promised to free ensure the monarch’s wife was released unharmed and relocated the Joint Task Force (JTF), code-named “Operation Purge”, to Etim Ekpo, with a mandate to comb the entire area for Mrs. Noami.

He charged the civil society to work in close collaboration with the security agencies in order to rid the Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun Local Government Areas of cultists, kidnappers and other criminal elements.
